Peplum & Pom Poms

Today’s “Trending on Thursday” topic is “Peplum & Pom Poms”!  I couldn’t let the summer pass by without featuring these sassy trends!  We have all seen this darling and colorful style pop up on Instagram & Pinterest feeds this past summer, and I have to say…I am absolutely smitten with it!

I am passionate about the small details which make a garment special.  For example…scalloped hems, lace trims, and/or embellishment accents make a garment unique and different!  The pom pom detail of these shorts is appealing, feminine, and fun and the floral pattern is perfect for summer style!  I chose to pair these with some darling peplum tops I found on Body Central.  Seriously, you must check out their website!  I was blown away by their amazing selection of peplum colors and styles!

I searched all over for the cutest colors, styles, and prices to bring to you and have assembled two fun, and summer-inspiring outfits for you to shop below!  Let me know what you think!

Have a great day!

Joe Fresh Casual

I love a great pair of blue jeans and the trend lately is...the more distressed, ripped, patched and cut up...the better!  I instantly fell in love with this MNG by Mango pair I found at JCPenney!  I was looking for a lighter bleached out denim wash for summer and I think these fit the bill perfectly!  I love the worn and destructed detail from the patches, to the paint splats, to the strategically placed rips!  The unhemmed cuffs make it easy to wear long or roll them up!  The skinny-leg design is a great look and the cotton/elastane material provides stretch for a very comfortable fit!

To heat up your sunny-day style and show off those sun-kissed shoulders, check out this hip halter top by Joe Fresh from JCPenney.  I love the soft and floaty design and the drawstring neckline and crochet trim adds a bit of a bohemian chic style!

I completed this fun summer look with a pair of my favorite espadrilles from Tory Burch. Espadrilles are the perfect addition to any summer outfit and there are so many colors and styles to choose from!  There are a ton of great deals on espadrilles and summer sandals with most being on end of season sale!  I am showing a similar option in the shop links below.

I hope you all are having a great day!  Have fun shopping!!

Pineapple and Seersucker

If I could live in shorts and tank tops all the time I would be a very happy gal!  Today's outfit post comes to you from one of my favorite stores to shop at...Banana Republic.  I picked up a few of my favorite items on  sale this past weekend while visiting the factory store in Sparks, Nevada.

These darling pink and white striped seersucker shorts are super comfortable.  The "Hampton" fit has a 4.5" inseam which can be rolled up if you prefer the shorter length.  They are made of 100% cotton and are perfect for summer!  I paired them with this adorable blush pink pineapple tank top.  The iridescent sequins accents create a little extra sparkle and what girl couldn't use a little bit of that?

I hope you all are enjoying your summer!  I have been working on my summer tan and enjoying the outdoor as much as possible although I can't believe July is almost over already!

I would love to hear from you!  Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions for future blog posts.  In the meantime, stay cool and have a great week ahead!

Fall Forecast: Classic Essentials

I know it’s a little early to start thinking about autumn and I don’t want to rush summer away either. However, I cannot help dreaming about fall fashion and the department stores have done a really great job of reminding me of that! Autumn is my favorite time of year! The leaves begin to turn color, the air gets a little crisper, the smell of wood burning in the fireplace fills the neighborhood, and the flicker of candlelight creates warm and inviting homes. It’s that time of year when you bring out your cozy and warm sweaters and scarves, switch out you sandals and flip flops for richly colored boots, and as your summer tan fades away, pull out tights, leg warmers, and warm coats!

Have I got you excited for fall fashion yet? If not, you will be when I show you some of my favorite picks for the upcoming forecast. I selected three basic, yet classic, wardrobe essentials for fall to share with you today.

 1. Cardigans: I prefer a lighter weight cardigan that’s very transitional through the seasons. These are perfect to wear in the summer on chillier nights or in the spring/autumn when the temperatures are a little cooler during the day as well. When you find a cardigan you love, buy it in multiple colors! Cardigans are timeless pieces that will go with almost every garment in your closet! I love these crew neck cardigans from Dorothy Perkins! The spring/summer colors are on sale for $14!!

2. Plaid Skirt: I have a penchant for plaid and have been on the lookout for perfect plaid skirts. Plaid is another timeless and classic pattern that never goes out of style. One might think that plaid should only be worn in the fall or winter or with school uniforms, but I beg to differ. The Lands’ End collection of plaid skirts I selected below come in a variety of colors and styles that can be worn in any season! In addition, you can have them monogrammed if you like for $6!

3. Boots: I have selected two different boot styles that continue to be popular season to season – the tall leather riding boot and the short suede bootie. Both are great options to wear throughout autumn and winter with your favorite jeans, skirts, dresses, etc.

Now it’s time to put these looks together and add some other fun accessories. Are you inspired for fall fashion now? Even if you don’t plan to wear these styles right away, it’s always a good idea to shop early and save money with some great pre-season sales!

OK! Enough talk about fall! The weather outside is perfect for a pool party and barbecue! Enjoy your summer evening!
