Hey there! I know it's been quite a while since my last blog post.  I recently decided to leave my job and take a few months off.  I decided to focus on me for a little while and it was a much needed break.  I enjoyed spending time with my kids more...taking them to school and picking them up; driving them to baseball practice and games; helping with homework and not feeling rushed; and having more family Netflix nights.  I also spent more time with my friends.  We enjoyed going wine tasting and exploring Sonoma County; taking day hikes in our nearby regional parks for some exercise, going out to the city and seeing a show, and catching up over coffee at the some new cafes I had been dying to visit!  

I really just needed a break and I can't tell you what a world of difference it made!  I feel refreshed and re-energized.  It made me realize that I need to take time once in a while and do things that I enjoy and make me happy.  

I am back to work now.  I just started a new job at a new employer and so far I am really loving it!  I am also happy to report that I got a nice promotion and salary increase from my previous job so that is always a plus and I'm worth it!  

This tank top is a good reminder that time for "you" is important.  Women especially are guilty of putting everyone else on the top of the priority list - the kids, the spouse, the job, the dog...I encourage each of you to pencil yourself in everyday.  Take time to focus on you and do things that you enjoy.  It could be something simple like reading a book, indulging in your favorite reality show, going to the gym, or grabbing cocktails with your girlfriends.  When you make yourself a priority, you will notice that you are more confident, less stressed, super productive, and happier.

J.Crew Factory Clearance

J.Crew Factory is having a major clearance sale and now is a great time to stock up on some classic staples for your closet!  

These fair isle sweaters come back every year in slightly different colors and patterns, and they are always a winter style favorite!  Check out my top picks on clearance here, here, and here! We still have a few months left in winter and it's always a good idea to think ahead for next season when you can get them at these prices!

Another closet staple that is great for layering and will transition into spring very easily are striped tees.  I like to wear these with my puffer vests and/or colored blazers along with a cute pair of distressed jeans and flats such as these pairs here, here and here.  When the weather warms up in the spring, they look great with capris and/or shorts on their own!  Here are my top three clearance picks here, here, and here.

I cannot live without shorts when the weather gets warmer so why not pick up a few now while they are on sale.  My closet staple shorts include a classic white pair like these ones, a bright red pair like these ones here, and of course, a denim pair is an absolutely necessity!

Embroidered Sheath Dress

This post is coming a little late into the fall season but it’s better late than never to get some style inspiration!  This past summer, I brought this Michael Kors embroidered sheath dress on vacation with me.   I love the Latin inspired style and the beautiful detail and colors of the embroidery.  This dress looks fabulous on its own so I chose very minimal accessories.  Unfortunately, this exact style is no longer available but I have linked in numerous other options such as these ones here, here, and here.  

For a casual look, throw your hair in a messy braid and add some casual sandals such as these cute pom pom ones here or these vibrant fringe sandals here!  If you prefer a higher heel height, you might like these fun options here, here, and here!

Now that we are in the fall season, it may be getting a little chillier which will require some layers.  Ponchos and capes are very popular this season and would complement the style of this dress very well and keep you warmer during the cooler mornings and evenings of autumn.  I selected a few layering options here and here, both of which would look stunning with this dress in the fall season combined with some stylish suede booties.  

It’s easy to transition you summer wardrobe into fall with the right accessories, shoes, and layers.  I challenge you to pull out some of your summer basics from the back of your closet and give it a try!  You’ll be amazed at the number of fresh new outfit ideas you will come up with just by adding some fall basics such as tights, scarves, boots, and a coat!

Tropical Vibes

Being born and raised in northern California, frequent trips to Disneyland with my family was a BIG part of my childhood memories!  I remember the first time meeting Disney’s first lady, Minnie Mouse, and giving her the biggest hug with a huge smile on my face!  I am much older now, but the nostalgia never fades away.  My husband and I have been annual season pass holders to Disneyland for the past few years.  We love to bring our 8 year old twin boys to the park now and let them experience the same magic and fantasy we revel about now that were adults.  

 

I have to say this was the most fun I’ve had shooting photos for my blog!  I let my inner #minniestyle shine through and just had a silly and playful time!  I choose to wear the red and white polka dot shorts and matching sleeveless polka dot collared top as my featured pieces from the collection. I’m keeping it totally casual for today’s post wearing this black razor back peep-hole top and Infinity Love bracelet from Infinity Boutique!  What I love about this sleeveless top is the versatility!  You can wear it with a maxi skirt, shorts, jeans, or capris – it literally goes with everything!  I found some similar tops here and here but check out Infinity Boutique if you like this one…it also comes in white!

Aqua Lace Maxi Dress

I'm sharing another beautiful maxi dress from Infinity Boutique today.  This gorgeous aqua and lace maxi exudes Victorian romance!  The vibrant aqua blue color is stunning and a perfect color to wear for spring and the upcoming summer months!  The cream lace overlay bodice creates a romantic and sweet touch, yet the strapless design and sheer overlay skirt give this dress modern styling.

I wore this dress with minimal accessories but I do think it would be beautiful to accessorize with pearls such as these options here, here or here.  The shoe possibilities are also endless.  I chose to wear these flat sandals but these styles here and here would also be a darling addition!
