Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Handbags & Accessories

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale recently opened up to the public and if you haven't checked since the pre-sale for card members, you may be missing out on new added items and more great deals!  Today I am sharing my favorite sale picks from handbags and accessories!  What autumn trends am I seeing?  Here are my observations:








Top Autumn Trends: Handbags & Accessories

1. Hobo Bags: The hobo bag is a style of handbag or purse that is typically large and characterized by a crescent shape, a slouchy posture and a long strap designed to wear over the shoulder. Hobo bags are made out of soft, flexible materials such as suede or soft leather.  This slouchy and sophisticated style is very popular for fall!  I love hobo bags because I can pretty much fit the kitchen sink in them!  Here are a few sale favorites here, here, or here. 

2. Ponchos & Capes:  Ponchos and capes are the perfect extra layer of warmth when the weather gets a little cooler in the fall.  I love to wear them with my jeans and over the knee boots.  Patterns such as stripes, plaid, or buffalo checks are very popular this year.  Here are a few of my favorites on sale here, here, or here.    

3.  Wool Hats:  Hats are a great way to accessorize any outfit!  I own a few wool hats that I picked up at previous Nordstrom sales (pictured above) but I can never have enough colors!  Check out the cute fedora, floppy, and/or round crown wool hat styles I found on sale here, here, and here.   

4. Natural Stone Jewelry: just type this phrase on Pinterest or Google and you will literally get a million results and images.  Natural stones continue to be very popular in fashion jewelry appearing in necklaces, bracelets, and rings. I picked up the Kendra Scott necklace (pictured above) and matching bracelet (which hasn't arrived in the mail yet!)  I linked them both below.  Here are a few of my top choices from the sale here, here, and here.

5.  Scarves - I love to wear scarves with my tunic sweaters and puffy vests in the fall.  Here are the cutest styles I found on sale ranging from plaid, fringe, and intricate rich fall color prints here, here, and here.

Transitioning Into Fall Style with Nordstrom

It feels like it’s been a while since I have worn pants!  Over the last few months I have been living in shorts, skirts, and dresses trying to take full advantage of bare legs weather while I can!  In my latest shopping excursion at Nordstrom, I couldn’t help but be drawn to all the great fall styles that were hanging on the rounders and folded on the shelves.

This darling long-sleeve, mixed-media, plaid top is the perfect transitional piece for fall.  The front of back of this baseball inspired tee is made with a plaid printed woven fabric and the sleeves are made of raglan jersey which makes for a very comfortable and lightweight fit.  I love faux leather piping along the sides which adds a little extra special detail.  You can wear this top tucked into your favorite trousers or skirt for a more refined look.  It also looks great untucked with jeans for more of a casual look.

I decided to pair this top with a cool, ultra-chic pair of black track pants made by Trouve.  I love the rib-knit tapered cuffs which are finished with gleaming zip closures.  You can pull the hem up to create a more slouchy style which looks great when you’re wearing a fancy pair of heels or strappy sandals!  The high waistline is finished with belt fasteners on each side which gives these pants a refined and polished look.

Fall Arrivals & Sale at The Limited

Have you checked out the new arrivals at The Limited?  If you haven't stopped in for a while, I suggest you run to the nearest store or quickly grab your coffee and get online to check them out!  If you are looking for rich and beautiful autumn colors, patterns and textures to add to your fall wardrobe, you cannot pass up this sale!  All jackets, skirts, pants, and dresses are buy one get one (BOGO) free and all tops and sweaters are 30% off!   That's the kind of sale that will satisfy my retail therapy needs! 

I instantly fell in love with this check pencil skirt in rich colors of burgundy and orange.  It comes in regular, petite, and tall sizes and is available in three fall plaid color palette combinations. (P.S.  I picked up the camel plaid too! : ) I paired it up with a lightweight wool/acrylic cardigan in a warm camel color.  These comfortable cardigans are perfect for fall and come in a variety of coordinating colors for the utmost wardbrobe versatility!  

So what about the shoes?  I picked up these burgundy suede Steve Madden booties last year and the color goes perfectly with this skirt (check the shop link below - you can still get the burgundy color)!  This outfit would also look fabulous with a cute pair of heels, flats, or leather boots for the perfect fall style!  Also, when the weather gets cooler, don't forget to put on your colored tights and warm scarves!  I guess I am officially in the mood for fall now!
