Pastorino's Pumpkin Farm

Location: Pastorino's Pumpkin Farm

We finally made it out to the pumpkin patch to pick up some pumpkins to carve with the kids this weekend!  I can't believe Halloween is just a few days away already!  We visited Pastorino's Pumpkin Farm located in Half Moon Bay, CA which is a half  hour to 45 minute drive north of San Francisco out on the coast.  For those of you who don't know, Half  Moon Bay is the pumpkin capital of the world!  It's well known for the annual Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival which draws fall revelers from around the world to celebrate all things autumn...and the largest pumpkins in the world of course!

The pumpkin patch was full of colorful pumpkins and gourds and the kids had plenty of fun activities to do besides finding the best pumpkins.  They enjoyed going through a haunted house, riding the ponies, playing on the large blow up slide, letting off steam in the bouncy houses, and riding the hay ride train around the farm!

It was a pretty warm and sunny day so there was no need to wear a coat.  I wore my favorite flannel button top (similar here) and I also love this color here), my comfy denim jeans, and my Hunter rain boots.  I always wear these boots when doing outdoor activities in the fall, you never know if it's going to rain and I don't mind getting these roughed up and muddy!  In fact, I have these in red and pink and I am seriously considering some new colors this fall like these here and here!

The kids grabbed a wheel barrel and we scouted for the best pumpkins! I also picked up a few colorful gourds to decorate my dining room table in preparation for the upcoming Thanksgiving entertaining and festivities!

After loading all of our pumpkins and gourds into the car, we decided to stop by the gift barn to shop for more festive fall decor and treats!  There was plenty of handcrafted items and personally designed goodies such as pumpkin spice candles, soaps, dried floral arrangements, and the most darling fall decor you can imagine!

This wreath is a perfect option for the front door!  It's similar to this one I found here.

After shopping, we were starting to work up a bit of an appetite and a little bit of a sweet tooth!  We took a break and stopped by Aunt Audrey's Pie Shoppe. We picked up a few slices of their delicious and savory pumpkin pie (with a good heap of whip cream of course) and some hot apple cider! This really hit the spot!

We had a great day at Pastorino's Pumpkin Farm and the kids really enjoyed themselves too!  I hope you all have a great weekend!  I can't wait to see all the creative pumpkin carvings and Halloween costumes this coming Monday!  I wish all of you a safe and Happy Halloween!

Fall Blessings!

Cozy Pink Pajamas

This past weekend was extremely busy...taking the kids to get their Halloween costumes on Friday night. a family Saturday outing at the local pumpkin patch to pick out our pumpkins for carving next week, grocery shopping, cleaning house, laundry, etc.  You get the picture!  A mom's job is never complete, am I right?  However, sometimes you need to treat yourself to a day of relaxation and pampering....sleep in, take a bubble bath, give yourself a face mask, read a book, drink some tea, put on the Netflix and stay in your PJ's all day!

That's what I did this past Sunday and it was fabulous!  I just received this pair of soft pink pajamas in the mail last week!  I have been wanting to invest in a few nice sets of PJ's.  I don't purchase them that often and tend to wear the same old comfy tattered pajamas or sweats every night.  It was not pretty and time for a beauty sleep refresh!

I love how soft these pajamas feel which makes them so cozy and comfy.  They are made from a touchable jersey knit, tailored with a button down top, contrast piping, and a comfortable elastic waist.  They are very lightweight which lately I have been needing while sleeping at night.  They also come in a few additional colors including ivory, navy, black, and pebble, to name a few.

I really enjoyed my Sunday day of relaxation and stayed n my pj's all day!  I watched movies with the kids, enjoyed some hot tea to soothe a bit of a sore throat from a cold, lit some candles, and flipped through some of my favorite magazines and shopping catalogs I never get a chance to read!  Even my dog Roscoe enjoyed  snuggles and snoozing in bed which was a real treat for him!

I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend and also took some time for a little bit of relaxation!  We all deserve some down time once in a while in between work, running errands, cooking, cleaning, homework, etc. Getting rest, especially this time of year when the cold and flu season kicks in, is vitally important to your health and well being.

Take Care,

Pink Double Breasted Boucle Coat

Some ladies have an obsession with shoes and some have a thing for handbags!  My obsession is definitely coats!  In fact, I have a whole closet full of them!  They do take up quite a bit of room when you think about it and it's really hard for me to part with them!  I like having versatility from rain coats, wool coats, leather jackets, lightweight hoodies, etc, and generally I like to buy timeless and classic styles that never get old or dated.

As I was organizing my closet for fall and winter a few weeks ago, I noticed that I didn't have a light pink coat in my collection...shocking I know since pink has always been my favorite color!  I looked up "pink coat" on Pinterest and found a ton of cute styles, which in turn led me to this double breasted boucle beauty!

First of all, I really adore the light pink color the gold detail on the buttons and the zippered side pockets.  Pink and gold is always a good idea!  Additionally, I didn't have a double breasted coat and I really liked the envelope collar and cutaway detail. I decided to wear it with my black skirt, a pair a opaque black tights, and my black riding boots.  I wore a pink ruffled blouse (similar here or here) to complete my outfit.

This coat will definitely keep me warm throughout the fall season and I can't wait to wear it again when it starts to snow in the Sierras!  I'm already planning a winter look with a white cashmere turtleneck, cozy beanie, white mittens, jeans, and a cute pair of snow boots!

I hope you all are enjoying the fall weather, getting outdoors, and spending time with loved ones!

Until next time!

Corduroy Skirt and Cozy Knit Sweater

Pumpkin spice lattes, cozy knits, and corduroy are some of my favorite items for fall!  So naturally when I saw this caramel colored button up corduroy skirt, I knew I needed it right away!  I actually picked it up towards the end of summer at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale.  I also have the same skirt in denim here and I love it!

Corduroy has always been a staple fabric for fall wardrobes as far back as I can remember.  My mom used to sew a lot of my clothes growing up.  I distinctly remember these elastic waist corduroy bell bottoms my mom sewed in almost every color of autumn you can imagine!  Fast forward to 2016 and the styles aren't much different.  I love this two button corduroy blazer which would look great with a pair of distressed jeans and rain boots.  I also love this brick red corduroy skirt, these boot cut cords, and this burgundy velvet corduroy pinafore dress!

I'm really enjoying all of the beautiful fall foliage and pumpkin patch pictures coloring my feed on Instagram and Pinterest lately! I've always wanted to take a trip northeast to experience the fall foliage first hand!  I showed my husband a few of these pictures with hopes of inspiring him to plan a trip!  We are definitely making it a reality for next year so please let me know if you have suggestions on where to go and places to stay that are family friendly!

No matter where you live, there are typically a lot of fun fall activities you can do!  Take your kids to the local pumpkin patch, find a local orchard where you can pick apples or pears, or just stay home a bake cookies and enjoy hot cocoa by the fire!  Fall really is the best time of the year and a great excuse to get outside and enjoy the changing colorful landscape!

Reflection Lake

Location: Reflection Lake - La Honda, CA
We're having our first rain of the fall season here in the San Francisco Bay Area over the weekend and it is very much welcome!  I can pretty much declare now that we are officially in sweater weather!  I've already pulled out all of my chunky, over-sized, cozy knits and I can't wait to wear them!  Today, I'm featuring this dark ivy green cowl neck sweater that you can find here!

I swooned over this sweater from the moment I spotted it.  First of all, I actually prefer a cowl vs. turtle neckline because it provides a little room and doesn't feel tight or itchy around the neck. This sweater is made of a cotton/acrylic material so it is super soft and cozy and can be machine washed!  Don't you hate when you buy a sweater and you find that it can only be dry cleaned?  That's too much unnecessary maintenance for me!  I feel that way about ironing too!  No thanks!

I also love this sweater for the cable knit and bell sleeve detail.  Bell sleeves are very much on trend right now as well as bell bottom jeans.  I sort of love that 70's style but more importantly I like to have a few unique pieces in my wardrobe for some variety!  I also wanted to let you know that if dark ivy color is not your jam, it also comes in a variety of other fabulous colors including ivory, red, grey, and heather!  I'm sure one on those colors will tickle your fancy, right?

Lastly, If you have followed me for a while, you know that I love a tunic length!  I'm 5'10 and wear a medium which is true to size.  The back of the sweater hits just past my back jean pockets.  I decided to wear this with my denim jeans and my favorite pair of chocolate brown riding boots (similar here).  I opted for a casual look as I knew I would be outdoors and it was raining.  However, you can also dress the look up and give it more glam by wearing it with some faux leather black leggings such as these here and high heel booties like these ones here.  The outfit possibilities are endless!

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Until Next Time,

Hayley
